mango.tc news does not ask you for anything. There is no reader account, no sign-up, no newsletter and no form to fill in, so this site holds no personal data about the people who read it. What follows is what the site actually does in your browser, and which other companies your browser contacts when a page loads.
What is stored in your browser
Everything below except the cookie stays on your device and is never sent to us. The preferredLocale cookie is sent with every request to this site, as cookies always are; the server reads it only when you arrive at an address with no language in it, to decide which language to open.
- A
preferredLocalecookie, set when you choose English, Spanish or Haitian Creole, so the site opens in that language next time. It lasts a year, and your browser's settings can delete it. - Your theme choice — light or dark — in local storage.
- For the Sunday Edition audio: how far through the recording you had got and the playback speed you picked, so it resumes where you left off.
- The list of articles from the feed you last browsed, so that moving to the next or previous story from an article page follows the order you saw.
- A service worker cache, so pages you have already visited work offline.
Third parties
This site is verified with Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-7180813918214554). Advertising is off, and no advertising script loads on this site while it is.
Google Fonts supplies the three typefaces this site uses (Inter, Lora and Playfair Display), so your browser requests them from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, and Google sees that request.
Article images on recent stories are copied to this site's own storage and served from there, so reading those pages does not announce you to the outlet the story came from. The older archive has not been copied yet: on those stories the thumbnail — and, on any story, a photograph inside the body of the article — is fetched from the publisher's own server, so that publisher sees the request and the address it came from.
Like any web server, the platform hosting this site records incoming requests — including IP addresses — in short-lived operational logs used to keep the service running and to investigate abuse.
What is not collected
- No analytics. This site runs no analytics or visitor-tracking product of its own.
- No reader accounts. The only log-in is for the people who administer the site.
- No mailing list, and nothing to subscribe to.
- No personal data is requested, submitted or stored by the site itself.
