The Office of the Complaints Commissioner, also known as the Ombudsman, marked Ombudsman Day in the Turks and Caicos Islands on 8 October 2026 to promote awareness of its role in addressing administrative unfairness. The office has served the territory since 1994, providing a constitutional mechanism for residents to challenge poor public service.
Residents facing unexplained delays, administrative errors, or unfair treatment by government departments or statutory bodies may seek impartial assistance from the Office. The Commissioner, Cherylann Jones, noted that the office is currently conducting outreach activities throughout October, including awareness campaigns at airports, public service announcements, and a tour of North and Middle Caicos. The office also plans to host a Youth Speak-Off at the end of the month for students at the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College to discuss governance and accountability.
