The Turks and Caicos Islands Government has extended the moratorium on new contractor business licences for businesses involving non-Turks and Caicos Islander ownership or participation. Cabinet approved the measure on September 30, which will now remain in effect until April 30, 2027, while officials finalize a new legislative framework.
This restriction applies to new applications from sole traders, partnerships, or companies where any ownership interest is held by a non-Turks and Caicos Islander. Existing licences and renewals are unaffected. The Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, Investment and Trade stated that pending applications submitted before the notice will be determined under the Business Licensing Act and Cabinet-approved policy. Officials do not currently intend to seek further extensions beyond the deadline unless the new construction legislation remains incomplete.
