The government of Belize has issued a formal statement condemning the sexualized behavior of children observed during recent public celebrations. The Ministry of Constitution and Religious Affairs, Indigenous Affairs and Transportation declared on September 29, 2026, that such conduct is entirely inconsistent with the nation’s moral values and standards for child safety.
The Ministry emphasized that protecting children is a shared national responsibility, stating that children should never be placed in situations where inappropriate sexual behavior is normalized as entertainment. Officials are now aligning with church leaders to call upon parents, event organizers, and the wider community to exercise greater vigilance and responsibility regarding the protection and dignity of all children during public events.
