The Turks and Caicos Islands Government has identified significant concerns regarding the condition and long-term integrity of the territory’s hospital infrastructure following independent professional assessments conducted over the past two and a half years. Consequently, the government has withheld specific infrastructure payments, confirming that the matter is now subject to legal proceedings.
Officials state that these independent reports, which were shared with InterHealth Canada and the Health Regulation Authority, indicate that InterHealth Canada has failed to meet the maintenance standards required under their contractual obligations. The government has also informed project stakeholders, including InfraRed Capital Partners, about these findings. While the government maintains its overriding responsibility to protect public healthcare assets, it emphasizes that clinical services at both hospital facilities are currently continuing as normal for all residents.
Because the dispute involves active legal proceedings, the government has stated it will not publicly address the substance of the commercial disagreement or provide further comment through the media. Future actions will be guided by the government’s commitment to ensuring the hospitals remain safe and sustainable, though no timeline for the resolution of these legal matters has been provided beyond the ongoing contractual dispute process.
