Using Pageantry to Fight Poverty

Grand Turk resident Adesha Gustave was crowned Miss International Turks & Caicos 2026 at a pageant held at Brayton Hall in Providenciales on June 27, 2026. Beyond the crown, the 18-year-old is dedicated to advocating against poverty and fostering youth development within the Turks & Caicos Islands.

National Director Sharlene Grant-Richards selected the finalists based on intellect and community dedication rather than appearance alone. Gustave’s platform aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on mentorship and poverty awareness. She has already collaborated with the TCI Department of Community Support and Engagement to host workshops on financial literacy and career preparation. Reflecting on her mission, Gustave stated, “I believe that ending poverty means removing barriers to opportunity.” She previously overcame personal financial hardships while balancing her academic pursuits and artistic interests before her win.

Gustave is now preparing to represent the territory at the 64th Miss International Pageant in Tokyo, Japan, scheduled for November 25, 2026. Organizers are currently appealing to the business community for financial and in-kind support to cover expenses, including international travel, custom national costumes, and a charity auction gift. Interested sponsors may contact Grant-Richards via WhatsApp at (649) 232-7551 or by email at mi.tci.pageant@gmail.com.
