The Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands has formally raised serious concerns regarding the maintenance and structural integrity of the territory's hospital facilities. Following independent assessments conducted over the past two and a half years, the Government has withheld infrastructure payments to InterHealth Canada, citing unmet contractual obligations.
The Government commissioned multiple professional evaluations to assess the long-term sustainability of the hospitals. These reports, which have been shared with the Health Regulation Authority and financial stakeholders including InfraRed Capital Partners, highlight issues the administration claims InterHealth Canada has failed to address to the required contractual standard. In response to a statement released on 21 September, officials maintained that the operator has not adequately engaged with the findings regarding the condition of these public healthcare assets.
While the dispute over infrastructure payments and contractual duties is now the subject of legal proceedings, the Government has reassured the public that clinical services at both hospitals remain unaffected and are continuing as normal. To protect its legal position, the administration has stated it will not discuss the substance of these matters through the media and will provide no further comment at this time.
