Pelican Energy TCI applied on September 18, 2026 to extend its public supplier’s license for Grand Turk and Salt Cay under the Electricity Act, which allows applications within ten years of expiry. The eligibility window has opened for those islands, and it intends to seek extensions for remaining licenses as they qualify.
Pelican Energy TCI said a competitive procurement process is underway for diesel fuel supply, storage and handling, with multiple local and international bidders and a publicly advertised request for proposals. It also advertised an application to build a 10-megawatt solar farm, battery energy storage system and microgrid through the Government’s Physical Planning review. The company said it engages with Government, the Energy and Utilities Department, Cabinet, the Governor’s Office and other authorities through formal channels, not personal relationships.
The license application is under review through the statutory process established by the Electricity Act and remains subject to regulatory and governmental processes. Any future license will be subject to the applicable regulatory framework, license conditions and oversight mechanisms. The fuel arrangement will be determined through competitive evaluation, and the solar, battery and microgrid proposal is part of the Physical Planning review.
