Turks and Caicos Islands police have arrested a suspect in the armed robbery of an Atlanta family at a Blue Hills beachfront villa in Providenciales. The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) says its Serious Crime Unit took the man into custody on September 14, 2026.
The raid happened on September 6, when seven masked men armed with handguns, machetes and wooden sticks ambushed guests on the back porch of Aqua Blu Beach Villas. One woman was struck in the head with a gun, and cash, passports, jewelry, purses and phones were taken. Detectives said security footage showed the suspects watching the victims for 30 minutes beforehand. Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey commended "the swift and professional response of our officers and investigators". Airbnb provided a full refund for the stay.
The RTCIPF says the investigation is at an advanced stage, with detectives pursuing additional lines of enquiry to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects. The force has also faced criticism for not telling the public or local media about the incident, details of which many residents first learned from Fox News.
