Marking the Golden Jubilee of ministerial government in the Turks and Caicos Islands, Canon Curtis Robinson delivered an ecumenical address on Grand Turk urging the country to remember, repent and return. The milestone commemorated the introduction of representative ministerial governance under a new constitution on August 31, 1976.
Reflecting on 50 years of development, Robinson warned against arrogance and recalled an era when only one high school served 26 students across the islands. He urged residents to acknowledge the contributions of non-nationals, specifically naming Dominicans, Jamaicans and Filipinos, and challenged Christians to confront sexual immorality and materialism amid rising prosperity.
For the coming 50 years, Robinson called on families to return to spiritual basics, urging parents to pray over their children, teach them faith from an early age and prioritize moral discipline. Invoking the Book of Deuteronomy, he urged Turks and Caicos Islanders to choose life for themselves and their descendants.
